Students develop flute playing skills (posture, breathing, sound, technique, expression), musical knowledge (theory, history), and life skills (creativity, problem solving, self-discipline, organization). There is an individualized course of study for each student.

I have ample experience teaching virtually, having taught literally THOUSANDS of lessons online! I know exactly the easiest and most effective ways a student can take to get setup to study virtually, it’s very simple!

New students get one free 30 minute trial lesson. Regular weekly lessons afterwards can be 30, 45, or 60 minutes long.

Students interested in performing have the opportunity to play in recitals, for virtual concerts, and for masterclasses. I also teach an optional weekly virtual group class for intermediate+ students where students get to interact with and play for a small group of fellow flute students. 

My students have been accepted to honor bands and youth orchestras and have successfully auditioned to art schools, among other competitions.

Students can learn early music like Baroque performance practice and the traverso through modern music including contemporary extended techniques. They can also learn how to play some music from other cultures.

Piccolo, alto flute, bass flute, and Baroque flute can be taught in addition to concert flute.

I have walked many students through repair emergencies! Many things can be fixed without bringing the flute in to be repaired if the student knows what to look for. Of course not everything can be solved without a technician, but I also make sure the student knows how to care for the instrument and prevent issues from the the get-go.
