Description
“Gliss-tening” was written due to my love of puns! It depicts the idea of light glistening on water. At first there is no light, then the sun rises higher and higher and shines ever brighter on the water until it is in its full glory. Finally, the sun sets, taking the last of the glistening sparkles of light with it.
“Gliss-tening” is played on a flute with a glissando headjoint and of course features many glissandos.
You may also use effects pedals if you like, but they are not required. I used Valeton GP-200 to create my effects (reverb and delay) but you can create similar effects on your own pedals or just choose your own effects that you prefer. For my setup, I have two pedals. The first pedal has reverb (set to “Room”) and delay (set to “Ambience 1”) and the second pedal has the same reverb but delay set to “Ice.” “Room” is a medium level of reverb, “Ambience 1” has a long, trailing delay creating a lush wash of sound, and “Ice” is a long delay with an upward octave (+12 semitones) on the delay trails.
